Leave by alerts, and seeing who is watching

Two Autopilot extras for the day of the job. A Leave by push tells you when to set off for each job, with the drive time, and it goes to you, never the customer. Once your customer has the tracking link, you see when they open it, how often they check, and when they are watching right now.

What it does

Two extras on Autopilot help you get out of the door on time and tell you when a customer is waiting on you.

Leave by alerts: before each job, a push tells you when to leave and how long the drive is, for example "Leave by 10:05 for Sarah" with "25 min drive. Boiler service at 10:30." under it. It goes to you, or to the team member the job is assigned to. Nothing is sent to the customer.

Seeing who is watching: once your customer has the tracking link from Live ETA, TradeBooked shows you when they open it and how often they check, on the Today card and on the job. While they have the page open, you see "Sarah is watching now".

Live ETA itself (the tracking link, On my way and what your customer sees) has its own article: Let your customer follow your drive.

What each plan includes

Plan | What you get

Pro | Live ETA, and one line once the customer has opened the link: "Sarah opened it at 09:42."

Autopilot | Adds how often Sarah checks, the watching now line, a push the first time she looks during your drive, one nudge before you set off, and Leave by alerts

On a free trial you have the Pro features, and the Autopilot ones as well in the last 5 days of the trial.

On Pro, the job screen on the web and in the Android app shows "See how often Sarah checks, with Autopilot" where the count would sit. The iPhone app does not show that line.

Before you start

You will need:

  • The Autopilot plan
  • Push notifications allowed on your phone. On the web, that means TradeBooked installed to your home screen with web push turned on (see Turn on push notifications on your phone)
  • A full address with a postcode on each job
  • For seeing who is watching: Live ETA set to On or Per job, so your customer has a tracking link
The setup steps below appear when you are signed in on Autopilot.

Common questions

Does my customer get anything when the Leave by alert goes, or when I set off?

No. Leave by alerts go only to you, or to the team member on the job. Nothing is sent to the customer when you set off either: Live ETA turns on the tracking link they already have.

Why did I not get a Leave by alert?

Check that you are on Autopilot, the Leave by alerts switch is on, push is allowed on your phone and Booking notifications are on. The job needs to be confirmed, booked for today at a set time, with a postcode, and not yet set off. If the job is assigned to a team member, the alert goes to them, not you.

Does it track where I am?

No. The drive time is worked out postcode to postcode, from the job before it in your day or from your base postcode. Your phone's location is not used for the Leave by alert.

Does a link preview in WhatsApp or Messages count as a look?

No. A look only counts when the page is open in a browser. Opening it again within 2 minutes counts as the same check.

Does my customer know I can see when they open the page?

Yes. The tracking page tells them that your business can see when the page is open. The count and the times are cleared 7 days after the booked date.

Will TradeBooked tell my customer I am late?

No. Nothing is sent to them on its own. On Autopilot, while you share your drive, your own screens show a flag such as "10 min late" when your arrival time runs past the booked time (or the end of the booked window). Only you see it. If you want to tell your customer, call or message them yourself.

Do my team members see who is watching?

Yes, on their own Today page and job page. The first-look push goes to whoever is driving, and the nudge and the Leave by alert go to the person the job is assigned to.

What plan do I need?

Leave by alerts and seeing how often your customer checks are on Autopilot, and in the last 5 days of a free trial. On Pro you see the one line that says when the link was first opened.
