Handle mid-job variations
When the job grows on-site, send the customer a variation link with the extra line items. They sign on their phone, the variation is authorised, and it rolls into the closeout invoice automatically.
What it does
Mid-job variations let you stop a job mid-flow, add new line items to cover extra work or materials, and get the customer to authorise them on their phone before you continue.
Once signed, the variation rolls into the final closeout invoice under "Authorised mid-job variations", so there is a clear paper trail of what was agreed and when.
Why it is worth using
Awkward end-of-job conversations are almost always about extras that were not explicitly agreed. A signed variation in the middle of the job replaces "we should have flagged that earlier" with a customer who has already nodded yes.
Before you start
You will need a TradeBooked account on the Pro or Autopilot plan, a live booking in progress, and the customer reachable by phone or text.

Common questions
What if the variation link expires?
Variation links carry an expiry. If the customer does not sign in time, just send a new one with the same items.
Can I add a variation after the job is closed out?
No. Once a job is closed out, the invoice is final. Use a separate follow-up invoice for any work agreed after closeout.
Does the customer pay for the variation separately?
No. Authorising the variation only confirms the extra work; payment happens once on the final closeout invoice that includes the variation.
What plan do I need?
Mid-job variations are available on the Pro and Autopilot plans.
