Create a test booking

Before you send your link out, book yourself in. Two taps creates a test booking on your account so you see exactly what a customer sees, and you spot friction before they hit it.

In a hurry? Quick steps

  1. Open your onboarding checklist on the dashboard
  2. Find the "Test your own booking" step in Phase 2
  3. Tap Create test booking; you are taken straight to the new booking
  4. Walk through it as if you were the customer, then delete or keep it as a sample

What it does

Test booking creates a dummy booking on your account so you can see exactly what a customer sees: the confirmation email, the timeline entry, the calendar block, and (if enabled) the deposit page.

Surfacing friction now is much cheaper than discovering it after your first real customer has bounced.

How to create one

  1. Open your dashboard and find the onboarding checklist.
  2. Scroll to Phase 2: "Now turn views into bookings".
  3. Find the step "Test your own booking" and tap Create test booking.
  4. TradeBooked creates the booking and opens it on your bookings page in a new tab.

What to check

While you are in the test booking, run through:

  • Did the booking confirmation email arrive?
  • Does the booking appear in your calendar at the right time?
  • If you have deposits on, did the deposit page look right?
  • If you have reminders on, will the timing be sensible?
Once you have learned what you need, either delete the test booking or keep it as a reference. It is dummy data, but it does show in your normal bookings list.

Common questions

Does the test booking send real emails?

It triggers the same flow as a real booking, so the confirmation email lands in the inbox tied to the dummy customer. That is the point: you see the real thing.

Can I delete it afterwards?

Yes. Open the booking on your bookings page and remove it, or keep it as a worked example to show new staff later.

Should I do this on every plan change?

Worth doing whenever you turn on a major change (deposits, reminders, new services), so you catch the new behaviour as a customer would see it.

What plan do I need?

Test booking is part of the onboarding checklist on every plan, starting at Solo.
