Fix a broken integration
When an integration shows an error, it is almost always a token that expired or permissions that changed. This guide tells you what each status means and how to get the sync running again.
What this guide covers
Integrations break occasionally, almost always because a token expired, an admin revoked access, or a setting at the other end changed. This guide walks through the same fix for all four:
- Xero
- FreeAgent
- GoCardless
- Google Calendar
How to read the status
Each integration shows a status pill near its connection state. The common ones are:
Status | What it means
Healthy | Working normally
Verifying | New connection, waiting for verification to complete (mostly GoCardless Bacs, 1 to 3 working days)
Pick organisation / Pick category / Pick accounts | Connection is in but a required setting has not been chosen yet
Reconnect needed | Token expired or was revoked, re-authorise to resume
Last sync failed | A recent push hit an error, normally clears after Resync now
Before you start
You will need a TradeBooked account on the Pro or Autopilot plan (integrations are paid-plan features), and access to the third-party account you need to reconnect (Xero login, GoCardless login, etc.).
Setup steps are in your dashboard
This is a Pro feature. Sign in on a Pro plan to see the step-by-step setup for your number.
Common questions
Why did my integration break?
Most often a token expired or an admin at the provider revoked access. Settings changes at the provider end (deleting a category, changing organisation permissions) can also do it.
Will I lose invoices already pushed?
No. Data already at the provider stays there. Reconnecting and resyncing only re-pushes recent items, it does not duplicate or wipe what is in place.
How long does Bacs verification take on GoCardless?
Typically 1 to 3 working days. If it is stuck for 5 working days or more, email support with your business name.
What plan do I need to access these integrations?
Xero, FreeAgent and GoCardless are on Pro and Autopilot. Two-way Google Calendar sync is on Pro and Autopilot, with a read-only iCal feed on Solo.
