What your scaffold customers see
Every scaffold gets a private public link (/s/<token>) for the customer and the using party. They can see status, sign the handover, and tap to extend hire by 1, 2 or 4 weeks. No login, no app, no friction.
In a hurry? Quick steps
- Every scaffold gets a unique /s/<token> link, emailed to the using party at handover
- They see the scaffold status, key dates, hire so far, and licence info
- When the handover is ready, they sign on their phone (printed name + signature)
- A few days before strike, they get a nudge email with 1 / 2 / 4 more week buttons
What the link gives them
When a handover or pre-strike email goes out, the recipient gets a link to /s/<token> for their scaffold. The token is unique to that scaffold, so they cannot wander into anyone else's data, and no login is required.
On the page they see:
- Site label and postcode
- A status pill ("Scheduled to go up", "Up and in hire", "Dismantled", "Off hire")
- Key dates: erected, planned dismantle, next inspection, last inspected
- Hire so far (weeks at the agreed weekly rate), if it applies
- Pavement licence info, if it applies
- Your business contact card with phone and email
Signing the handover
If the scaffold is up and the handover inspection has been logged but not yet signed, the page shows a "Handover certificate ready to sign" card with a Sign handover button.
Tapping it opens /s/<token>/sign. The intro reads: "By signing below you confirm you have received the scaffold and the handover certificate for [site]. Inspections will continue every 7 days while it is up."
They enter their printed name (e.g. "Dan Abbott, Summit Roofing"), draw a signature on the canvas, and tap Confirm and sign. The signed certificate goes back into your records and the public page now shows "Handover signed by [name] on [date]".
Extending hire
A few days before the planned strike date, TradeBooked emails a pre-strike nudge: "Your scaffold at [site] is scheduled to come down on [date]. Need it for longer?"
The Extend hire link opens /s/<token>/extend with three tap-to-pick options: "1 more week", "2 more weeks", "4 more weeks". Each shows the new strike date and the extra hire cost (if a weekly rate is set).
On Confirm extension, the public page reads: "[Business] will be notified immediately and will invoice the extra hire on their next bill." The strike date on your scaffold and on your calendar updates automatically.
After strike
Once you mark the scaffold struck, the public page keeps showing the record for 90 days so the customer or using party can still grab the handover PDF if they need it for their own records.
After 90 days, the page becomes a small stub: "This scaffold record has expired. The online record for this scaffold at [site] is no longer available. The scaffold has been off-site for over 90 days. Contact [business] for a copy of the handover certificate or inspection records."
Privacy and access
The /s/<token> link is unguessable but shareable. If a customer forwards it, anyone with the link can read the public scaffold view (status, dates, hire calc) and sign the handover if it has not been signed yet.
Common questions
Do customers need a TradeBooked account?
No. The /s/<token> URL is the only thing they need. No login, no download, no app.
Can I rotate a leaked link?
Not from the dashboard in v1, but email support@tradebooked.co.uk and we will rotate it. Self-serve rotation is on the roadmap.
What if the customer clicks extend by mistake?
Call them to confirm what they actually need, then pull the strike date back manually using the Extend hire form on the scaffold detail page. The original confirmation email gives you the timestamp.
What is the "Get this for your trade" link at the bottom?
It is a PLG referral link. If the using party (often another trade) taps it, the TradeBooked signup is prefilled with their details and your account gets the referral credit. Useful when you are working a lot with the same crews.
What plan do I need?
The scaffold tracker, including the public /s/<token> view, is on the Pro and Autopilot plans.
